Since September 1st, when the New York Post headline read “D’Agostino could lose lease over Sandy snafu,” the rumor continued to circulate that by the end of October they would have to vacate their store in the elegant old Archive building at Greenwich and Barrow Streets. So, in an attempt to find out what was happening, on September 13thWestView News had a word with a manager, who said that they “weren’t going anywhere.”
However, first efforts to get confirmation from D’AgostinoHeadquarters didn’t go anywhere either; and a call to Rockrose Development, the owners of 666 Greenwich Street, resulted in “Statement from Rockrose Development – ‘We cannot comment on pending litigation’,” repeated twice by the spokesperson, who declined to comment further. On the other hand, a search of the e-courts site did not reveal any record of “pending litigation.”
Finally, on the 20th, came the good newsfrom the Manager of Customer Service,
“Mr. D’Agostino has informed me that we are still working things out with the landlord. We are not vacating the premises.”
Thank you, Mr. D.Agostino! Good luck working things out.
