In the 1980s, I was captain of a cruise boat in New York harbor. So, it was with great interest that I went aboard the handsome Hornblower Infinity, moored starboard side on the north side of Pier 40, to be warmly met by Captain Mark Phillips.
Hornblower Cruises & Events, the leading charter yacht and public dining cruise company in California, has invested more than $40 million in this New York venture and offers dining cruises, private parties, weddings, and corporate events. The company’s eco-friendly yacht Hornblower Hybrid received Workboat Magazine’s “Significant Boat of the Year” award for 2012 and was recently named a “Best of Weddings 2013” pick by wedding website The Knot. Hornblower’s fleet in New York includes two spectacular crafts. The Hornblower Hybrid boasts energy-saving features such as hydrogen fuel cells, solar panels and wind turbines and the second, Hornblower Infinity, comprises four decks with a separate sun deck at the top, 23 large TV monitors, and can accommodate up to 1,000 passengers.
Throughout the week, Hornblower offers a variety of cruises like the Starlight Dinner Cruises that include a three hour yacht cruise, a four course dinner, DJ and dancing, and unforgettable views of New York. One recent diner described the evening, as “truly an amazing experience.” Furthermore, “the food was absolutely delicious and we were so impressed with the service and the accommodating staff who were always there to ensure our every need was met.” Cocktail Cruises are also offered and in May, Skyline Brunch Cruises will be available, in addition to one hour narrated harbor cruises, departing from Battery, seven days a week. Upcoming special events include Valentine’s Day dinners and Chocolate and Wine Tastings (see www.hornblower.com for details).
This unique setting is also the perfect venue for a wedding. Hornblower offers a range of options and will guide you through this exciting day, whatever your requirements may be. In addition to dining, dancing and celebrating, both vessels are perfectly suited for large or small business meetings and corporate events.
In my opinion, this is the best adventure to be had to by all in the West Village and by all New Yorkers.
