Greenwich Village Chef Lends A Hand For Neighbor Settlement House

Anita Lo Serves As Top Chef Among Village Peers

As restaurants prepare to transition their winter menus to spring, chefs in the Greenwich Village area are planning to shake up more than just their menu. On Monday, March 11, some of New York City’s finest restaurants and chefs will join Greenwich House, its supporters, friends, and neighbors to celebrate the 11th Annual Taste of Greenwich House.

Greenwich House, a nonprofit founded in 1902 which is dedicated to helping New Yorkers lead safe, healthy and more fulfilling lives, has been hosting its annual benefit, Taste of Greenwich House, which invites guests to sample a variety of equally sensational cuisines from over 30 restaurants, for 10 years. This is done to support Greenwich House’s 10 social service and arts programs, including treatment for victims of child abuse, medical care for home-bound seniors, after-school programs for urban youth, senior wellness programs, and those struggling with drug and alcohol addiction.

This year, Chef Anita Lo, Owner and Executive Chef of Annisa and Greenwich House neighbor, will be featured as she signs copies of her cookbook, Cooking Without Borders. Other Greenwich House neighbors and Village restaurants returning this March include, Gotham Bar and Grill, The Little Owl, L’Artusi, Market Table, Da Silvano, Left Bank, One if by Land, Two if by Sea, Good, Commerce, and Sushi Samba. “These restaurants consistently bring their A game to the event,” notes Greenwich House Executive Director, Roy Leavitt. “With their support, we are helping improve services in the Village and beyond, particularly for the most vulnerable among us, from young children to senior citizens. Their commitment to this partnership makes our work even more worthwhile.”

Between the delicious food, music, silent auction, and thought-provoking conversations with Greenwich House program directors, Taste of Greenwich House has grown into one of the premiere tasting events of the season where each guest can mingle and eat while making a contribution to the community.
