Now is the time for flu shots. The Center for Disease Control recommends that everyone over the age of six months, except for individuals with an egg allergy or history of Guillain Barre syndrome, should get one of the vaccines. You can contact your primary care provider if you have any questions. During the 2017 to 2018 season 80,000 people died from influenza or its complications, compared to 72,000 from all legal and illegal drug overdoses.
Flu shots will be offered at several local West Village sites (Flu shots are covered by most insurances; the following prices given apply to those paying out of pocket) including: Rite Aid ($40), CVS ($22.72 with discount card) and Duane Reade ($40.99), and Northwell Health GoHealth Urgent Care Chelsea at 225 W. 23rd St. and Northwell Health GoHealth Urgent Care at 41 East 8th St. ($20)—the last two Northwell GoHealth locations do not accept insurance.
