Open Letter to Roy Leavitt, Executive Director of Greenwich House

Roy—When I asked you why you needed $180,000, and were you in a financial hole, and what were you going to do with the $180,000, you gave me:

“The funds allocated will cover leasing expenses for the agency’s administrative operations instead of using the facilities currently occupied senior center.”

You should have been more direct and said something like:

The $180,000 received from the city will be used to pay the rent for our offices at West 27th Street. Without the grant, we would be forced to move the Barrow Street Senior Center in with Our Lady of Pompeii and move our offices into the vacated Barrow Street Senior Center.

Roy, this is the Village—don’t use PR talk.
