Exploring concepts of space and nature through abstraction, Lamia utilizes a language of opposites. His vibrant compositions convey the interplay of translucent layers and opaque shapes, crisp lines, and brushed fields. Lamia’s vocabulary derives from both geometry and biomorphism.
Lamia’s latest works reflect his thorough investigation of water as an increasingly precious resource. “Our need for water transcends cultural, socioeconomic, and lifestyle divisions. Even time is no match for thirst […] It is a common thread stitching together the fabric of life.”
Nick Lamia lived at 54 Charles Street and studied at the New York Studio School. He currently teaches at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
