A GREAT DAY FOR COREY, COREY JOHNSON THAT IS – when, on January 29th, he was sworn in as City Council Speaker by New York Senator Chuck Schumer at a festive Inauguration Ceremony in the Fashion Institute of Technology’s Morris W. and Fannie B. Haft Theater.
And a very good time was had by all:
From the youngsters who participated…with a rousing rendition of “This Land Is Your Land” and a solemn “Pledge of Allegiance;”
To the many dignitaries who spoke – including Mayor Bill de Blasio, Congressman Jerry Nadler, and Comptroller Scott Stringer, among others – before Senator Schumer swore Corey Johnson into his new city post;
To our new Speaker himself when, serious matters taken care of, he had a chance to cut loose with Public Advocate Letitia James;
And to greet all the happy friends, fans, and family who flocked to deliver hugs, kisses, and congratulations.
Truly, a great day.
