Dear George,
I am so sorry to learn of the death of your cousin John. It looks like pioneers run in your family.
What you have done for the West Village through WestView deserves touting too. Each month, I am startled by photos of wildlife (wacky-looking, puffy, long-beaked birds), Mia (the ‘unquestioning love’ dog), as well as the color-tinted or expertly crafted black-and-white ads placed by local shops and businesses. They register a shout-out to familiar customers and a warm welcome to new ones. (It gets tiring to hear about empty storefronts on Bleecker Street and Christopher Street.)
Thankfully, when I open WestView, I feel drenched in my neighborhood, my community, and its plethora of offerings. WestView performs a balancing act—disseminating a combination of ads and comprehensive, time-sensitive ‘keeper’ articles. Many in the creative arts soak up this paper like a Guinness at the White Horse Tavern or a Shirley Temple at Wild. In my estimation, WestView is not only the ‘Voice of the West Village’ but also the eyes, ears, and heart. Hats off!
