By Charles Warburton
In early December 2017, Paired Entertainment, a small production company run by Charles Warburton and Molly Montgomery, took on a different project than usual—a production of A Delicate Ship by Anna Ziegler. The company began planning the transformation of Industria Studios on West 12th Street from a loft warehouse into a cozy Christmas theater, all to raise money for God’s Love We Deliver.
Paired Entertainment joined forces with a Village local, Angela Pietropinto, a well-known New York actress who signed up to direct the work with the help of Ian Scott. The broader creative team includes Chris Thielking, who specializes in lighting design, and Oliver Lehne, who joins Molly and Charles in the cast.
God’s Love We Deliver is the New York metropolitan area’s leading provider of life-sustaining meals and nutrition counseling for people living with severe illnesses. It began as an HIV/AIDS service organization, and today provides for people living with more than 200 individual illnesses. God’s Love cooks and home-delivers the specific, nutritious meals each client so urgently requires. Meals are individually tailored for each client by one of their registered dietitian nutritionists, and all clients have access to unlimited nutrition counseling.
All of this is made possible by the compassion and dedication of over 10,000 volunteers annually who, on a daily basis, chop, prepare, and deliver these meals. They do this at dawn and at dusk, in the bitter cold and in the sweltering heat. They gift their hearts and time to deliver over 35,000 meals per week across all five boroughs, New Jersey, and Westchester and Nassau counties. No one who is ill and hungry has ever been turned away.
God’s Love We Deliver currently cooks and delivers 7,000 meals each weekday to clients, their children, and their senior caregivers, and the number continues to grow. In fact, demand has increased 150% in the last 10 years. This year, God’s Love will cook and home-deliver 1.7 million nutritious meals to City residents living with and affected by severe illness. The production of A Delicate Ship drew a sold-out run, raising over $10,000 for the charity.
Paired Entertainment’s first feature-length narrative film is currently in the latter stages of post-production and will be released in late 2018.
