A New Monthly Feature in WestView News

Nothing in recent history has shattered the traditional acceptance that our national government, right or left, would somehow sustain a safe middle road between the financial and political perils of a planet now totally connected by smartphones.

That is, until Trump.

A psychotherapist called me to offer, with alarm, that many of her patients were unnerved by and preoccupied with “Trump Trauma.”

Additionally, our Managing Editor asked, “What shall we do with all of these Trump emails?” and indeed we receive many. At our core, we are a West Village newspaper and we must use our precious 32 pages to fight for the return of a real local hospital that you can walk to, to save your life or that of a loved one.

It is inconceivable that Trump will get re-elected, and he does have four years at present, which is hard to process. The opposition is so traumatized that it is rushing together in self-consoling groups (e.g., The Greenwich House Pottery studio is holding a pottery sale to support the ACLU).

So, yes, Trump is a danger to our accepted norms, liberal aspirations, and probably to our economy as well (he could let banks have their way).

Many intelligent people read WestView—individuals who occupy critical positions, and those who can even create policy. And, yes, I would like to hear from them.

So, with this issue, we launch the Trump Trauma page.

No, I don’t want it to be just an anxiety valve to release the “I could kill him” pressure. I would like it to be the path of sanity or, in the case of Trump, a forum to express what an adult would do if he were president.

Think before you write.
