
On Sunday, April 17, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender New Yorkers from across the five boroughs rallied in front of the historic Stonewall Inn in support of Hillary Clinton for President. Speakers included Congressman Jerrold Nadler, Borough President Gale Brewer, Senator Brad Hoylman, Assembly Member Deborah Glick, Council Member Corey Johnson, former City Council Speaker Christine C. Quinn, American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten and a lineup of LGBT celebrities and activists. The speakers highlighted Clinton’s work for the LGBT community as First Lady, U.S. Senator representing New York, and Secretary of State. Clinton’s historic Geneva speech in which she proclaimed “Gay rights are human rights and human rights are gay rights” was evoked, inspiring cheers. In the April 19 Democratic primary, Clinton overwhelmingly won the West Village with 66 percent of the
