What better way to describe this quaint friendly cafe and restaurant than its own namesake? Sweet Life Cafe. Real down home-style cooking that will have you coming back for more. The food is served up with satisfaction, joy and family friendliness by Dolly and John. Whether it’s early morning breakfast or late afternoon lunch the bountiful and varied menu is sure to please, along with an affordable price.
Good food at a good price makes a sweet life. It’s that simple and that good. My favorite meal that I share with fellow bike riders when we break for lunch is the Lumber Jack—buttermilk pancakes, eggs over easy and crispy bacon covered in maple syrup and an iced coffee with refills. Hits the spot and we ride on. My second favorite is the Western Omelette with hash browns. They also have an Eastern Omelette with no meat. Nothing fancy, just plain and good.
Places and fads may come and go, but, as an integral part of the neighborhood, Dolly and John believe it’s important to generate good will by actively participating in and supporting their West Village community—like supporting their community paper by placing an ad—something that they can take pride in and chat it up with other local merchants that may also subscribe. A community minded gesture that keeps it local.
Once you visit this little bistro charmer, you will return for its consistency. Sweet Life Cafe is located in the West Village at 147 Christopher St. just off Greenwich St. Their diverse and steady customers keep returning. For good reason, it is and has been a neighborhood favorite for 24 years. C‘mon down and taste for yourself. Be sure to say “Hello Dolly—and John.” They’ll be very glad to greet and seat you.
