For you, one of my very few really meticulous readers, you will of course remember from the last issue the theft of a double impatient plant from a entry-way planter not more that ten feet from my computer chair – the very one I am sitting right now (if I lean back I can see the planter as I key this).
Imagine a “plant kidnapper” who swiftly but adroitly scooped out this rose like efflorescence and bore it away from its alarmed and pained but voiceless companion plant. How could he or she do this?
As you will also recall, I made a plea to the plant-napper to return the plant with “no questions asked.”
Oh wow! This morning I went up to pick up the Times and the plant had returned! Not only that but a second plant that had died had also been restored.
As I said, I forgive the plant-napper and from the gift of the second plant, I can see genuine remorse. He even managed to match the color.
