The Times this morning documented State Assembly Leader, Sheldon Silver in a lie.
Forty years ago, in the 1970s, a young Sheldon Silver represented the United Jewish Council to stop a Delancy Street housing project that would have certainly brought in low income Hispanics and African Americans to a largely Jewish community.
What makes the lie even worse is that he claimed it was not his name on the petitioning legal documents but that of another lawyer with a similar name, Sheldon E. Silvers who The Times revealed worked for the council for less than eight months and had nothing to do with blocking the low income housing project.
Catching a politician in a bold face lie should call for his resignation but not today. It only calls for a redoubled spin effort and more lies.
