The Post seems to have it in for Charles Street resident ship owner Peter Georgiopoulos and reports again with seeming delight the imminent bankruptcy of his shipping company Genco facing a $50 million principal payment this month.
The March 22 issue offered an unflattering photo of Georgiopoulos, 53 with his supermodel wife Kara, formerly the girlfriend of Donald Trump.
His two brownstones on the corner of Charles and West 4th Streets are surrounded by lavish and well-attended plantings. Mr. Georgiopoulos has been very generous to the Charles Street Association with $1,000 donations.
The Post claims he boasted to be worth $2 billion in 2008 and now faces $1.1 billion in bank debt and $125 million to the bond holders.
Georgiopoulos may end up with just a few hundreds of million dollars.
