A who’s who of New York City’s culinary talent has started to sharpen their knives and flex their creative food muscles in preparation for the 12th Annual Taste of Greenwich House. On Monday, March 10, some of the city’s most innovative restaurants will join Greenwich House with its supporters, friends, and neighbors at the Metropolitan Pavilion in celebrating Greenwich House’s annual tasting event.

Greenwich House, a nonprofit founded in 1902, dedicated to helping New Yorkers lead safe, healthy and more fulfilling lives, will be hosting its annual benefit, Taste of Greenwich House, in support of its 10 social service and arts programs, including treatment for victims of child abuse, medical care for home-bound seniors, after-school programs for urban youth, senior wellness programs, and counsel those struggling with drug and alcohol addiction.

This year is additionally special as Greenwich House welcomes Mimi Sheraton, Greenwich Village resident since 1945, friend, neighbor, and former food critic of the New York Times, Vanity Fair, Conde Nast Traveler and Time, as its honorary chair. Famed for her forthright opinions, Ms. Sheraton was the first female restaurant critic appointed to the Times in 1976 and has not lost her appetite for exquisite tastes since. Greenwich House will welcome other neighborhood friends like The Little Owl, L’Artusi, Market Table, Left Bank, and Sushi Samba, as well as open its doors to new eateries such as BarBacon, Stanton Social, Casa Nonna, and The Marrow. “These restaurants consistently bring their A game to the event,” notes Greenwich House Executive Director, Roy Leavitt. “With their support, we are helping improve services in the Village and beyond, particularly for the most vulnerable among us, from young children to senior citizens. Their commitment to this partnership makes our work even more worthwhile.”

Between the delicious food, music, silent auction, and lively conversations with Greenwich House program directors, Taste of Greenwich House has grown into one of the premiere tasting events of the season where each guest can mingle and eat while making a contribution to the community.
