WVN decided to ask the corporate communications department of the USPS, and were glad to be reassured that “there are plans for the station to be repaired.”
However,then came,“The space is leased from a private owner,” and,“At present customers, are being directed to pick up their post office box mail at the Village Post Office.” Yet we knew all that already.
When we first talked to a Post Office official, back in October, we were told that the ‘private owner’ had already hired a contractor … so then what happened? She had even been guardedly optimistic that 527 Hudson Street would be back in time for the Christmas rush! Bah, humbug!
So, we left another notefor the USPS, but as we went to press could get no further word. Maybe we’ll have more news next month, let’s hope.
