WestView Letter February 2013: Please be On-The-ALERT!

Please be On-The-ALERT!

Dear Friends & Neighbors,

Yesterday I noticed keys in the front vestibule of our Bank Street brownstone. Attached was an Equinox Pass. Trusting myself, more than possible others, I did as usual, telephoning the Club who researched & contacted the owner. Later the woman whose keys they were, telephoned Moi. We met.

She is a decade-long resident of 12th Street. A lovely woman, who unfortunately, had left the mailbox key for her cleaning person in an envelope with her keys in the mailbox. Voila! Someone had pre-empted the cleaner & burglarized her apartment.

Musing on how those keys had wound up here, ’round the corner, I am reminded of suspicious characters I see in our WV hood looking all-too-intently into parked autos and homes. They are canvassing our neighborhood!!!

Since unfortunately, the great divide between the “rich” & impoverished has discernibly widened, we can expect even more of these characters – especially since our hood has become a trendy destination.

Please: Do NOT allow unknown individuals into your buildings – They may pose as Deliverymen.

Remember: It is PC to ask those questions…

…and of course, only leave keys in a private place with a trusted individual.

Please do Pass This On!

Wishing you all Safe & WELL in 2013.

JL
