“My name is Alicia Nosenzo and my business partner, Harold Dieterle, and I would like to open a restaurant in your neighborhood at 99 Bank Street, in the old Paris Commune spot.” So began the note pasted on the door of the long empty premises at the corner of Bank and Greenwich Streets on June 20th.
It went on to say that they already had two restaurants in the neighborhood,Perilla on Jones Street and Kin Shop at 469 Sixth Avenue, and had never had any problems with the neighbors – or the SLA.
But having heard that the Starr Restaurant Group’s bid had “not been well received” by the community they were “eager to meet with concerned neighbors personally”, to address any concerns they might have, and earn their support and trust.
So WestView News got in touch and learned that,while they did not yet have a license,they were on the CB2 agenda for July, and if approved were hoping for a fall opening. Also, that they planned to be on the premises from 5 to 7 p.m. on June 26th and 27th with a view to meeting neighbors – which is how WestView came to meet Alicia and Harold … and some much-relieved local folk.
