Yesterday afternoon (November 9) I had a really interesting conversation with George and Dusty concerning a deficient curb. Below I am submitting all the details. Dusty took some photos and suggested that I contact the paper.
Nine years ago I took on the job of restoring McCarthy Square from a shambles to the “oasis” it has become. For nine years I have attempted to have an unusually high curb made more accessible for the elderly (myself included). I know of three people who have fallen attempting to climb. I have called 311, the Parks Department and the whatever you call the department that maintains the streets to no avail. The streets department tells me that it is the responsibility of the Parks Department and vice versa. Someone from the streets department went so far as to tell the Parks Department it “had already been taken care of.”
Please help in any way that you can. The location is the southeast corner at Waverly Place and Charles Street. Anything you can do to remedy this dangerous situation will be greatly appreciated.
I would pull my hair out at this point but at age 83 I don’t have any left to pull.
