I just looked at the August issue of WestView and noted that the recent passing of Paul Bellardo was not mentioned. I assume that was because you had already gone to press when he died. I remember well his shop on Christopher Street.
I also noticed that, in “In and Out,” you say that French Roast closed. However, the signs in the windows say that it is undergoing renovations. Which is it?
I’ve lived at 30 West 13th Street since 1978.

Thank you for your note. We regret to hear about the passing of Paul Bellardo, a lifelong Village resident. Regarding French Roast, we have not heard anything more. We, also, wonder what has happened since the signs were posted and will try to update readers if more information becomes available.
