On Thursday July 10th the Village Independent Democrats (VID) held their monthly meeting at St. John’s Church on Christopher Street. The meeting started with reports on a variety of political activities by Democratic party District Leader, Keen Berger, Campaign Committee Chair, Ed Yutkowitz and State Senator, Brad Hoylman, who also made a strong statement of support for Governor Cuomo. This was followed by a renewed discussion of whether the club should make an endorsement in the Democratic primary for governor. After a lively debate, the club members voted to endorse Zephyr Teachout with 14 votes, to Governor Cuomo’s 6 (which was 6 more then he received in May’s meeting ), Randy Credico’s 2 (which was 2 more then the progressive political satirist received previously ) and 4 for no endorsement. The meeting also had a presentation by several representatives of the Lenox Hill Healthplex which will be opened recently in the former St. Vincent’s Hospital O’Toole building.

Alec Pruchnicki is a member of the VID executive committee.
