On The Big Broadcast, Sunday evening this past June 15, at 10:05 PM, the radio host, Rich Conaty gave a terrific plug for WestView News and mentioned my article in the paper entitled “Cabaret and Bullets Plus The Big Broadcast.” The Big Broadcast show is heard every Sunday from 8 PM to 12 Midnight on WFUV (Public Radio from Fordham University) 90.7 on your FM dial and streaming. The focus of this wonderful show is the music of the l920s and l930s from the vast Conaty collection of rare 78 rpm recordings. Rich Conaty, a brilliant musicologist, provides historic information galore to go along with the now classic popular music of that era; and he has been at this gig for 43 years, ever exuberant, enthusiastic and youthful in his approach and with boundless energy. Rich is the best of the best, a real treasure. As I was listening in that evening, Rich came on to deliver this message:
“I always follow talented human beings on Twitter like the wonderful Robert Heide. Thank you Bob Heide – Bob included The Big Broadcast in the June edition of WestView News in his article entitled “Cabaret and Bullets Plus The Big Broadcast.” The article isn’t online yet but when it appears at westviewnews.org I will post it on my own Facebook account and at Twitter.com/Rich Conaty for my many followers. Until then pick up a copy of WestView News at your local newsstand where I guess they want us to buy a copy. Thank you again Bob Heide and thanks also to WestView News for that generous write-up! And guess what… Bob has a ‘Heide-Quest’ tonight for the song “A Cheerful Little Earful” recorded by Ben Selvin and his orchestra featuring Tommy Dorsey on trombone, Benny Goodman on sax and with a vocal by Helen Rowland. Always a treat folks. Tune in this Sunday and call in your special request.”
