House guest Isabelle Pilate Drufin, the proprietress of Deux Pierre, once on Bleecker and Charles Streets, was chatting in French and easing her brother Christian and his wife François into seats at the bar in a Grand Central Station restaurant when she heard the bartender call out his to fellow bartender, “French, I’ll never get a tip.”

Isabelle’s temper flared and she offered, “How can you say such things? You are very rude. You wouldn’t want to read what you just said in WestView News.

The astonish bartender came back with, “I live in the Village, but how do you know about that paper?”

Isabelle did not leave a tip.
