Lawyers for the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation, NYU Faculty Against the Sexton Plan, and dozens of other community groups presented oral arguments before Judge Donna Mills on July 18 urging her to overturn approvals by the City Council, City Planning Commission, and Manhattan Borough President, among others, of the NYU expansion plan. The plaintiffs and the City have two weeks to submit further written arguments, which the judge will review before rendering a decision. The plaintiffs are seeking to block the NYU plan, which would add 2 million square feet and take 20 years to construct.
