Pier 46 – Perry Street Pier to its many fans – was so severely damaged by ‘Sandy,’ that it has been out of bounds for the five months since; but now a massive renovation is under way.
The really good news is that, while the work involves repairing damaged pavement and reinstalling new play surface on the artificial turf area, the plants and picnic area won’t have to be replaced. Our favorite Pier will look just the same and all the usual summer programming will be back, including the ever-popular Big City Fish operation, when they reopen in early June – weather permitting!
