Yesterday at 3.38, an ambulance was called for my neighbor on Greenwich Avenue to go back to Beth Israel because he was released two days before, but became very ill again.

At 4.05, another neighbor hailed a cab to take him because the ambulance still had not arrived! I waited for the ambulance and it showed up at 4.14. When I asked them why they had been so long, they replied that they had to come from Brooklyn as they are short-staffed! BROOKLYN? To the West Village, and then you have to get to the west side to get to the hospital at 4.00 in the afternoon when you can’t get a cab and it’s rush hour?

What the hell is going on here? This is just NOT acceptable.
