The River Project’s annual open house events invite the community to meet the fishes, crabs, and other neighborhood creatures at our Wetlab on Pier 40 on Tuesday, May 23rd from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Meet the Fishes welcomes people to experience our unique flow-through aquarium system that contains Hudson River water from under the pier, and many wonderful species of Harbor animals that are living in the Wetlab this season.

Twice weekly from April through November, Wetlab Look-Ins offer free educational workshops for people to observe these fishes and other animals as they mature throughout the season. At Release of the Fishes in November, guests can help return the animals to the River for winter.

At our meet and release events, visitors from the neighborhood and beyond will encounter hundreds of local animals such as seahorses, striped bass, blackfish, and oysters. Please join us in discovering the flourishing natural ecosystem of the Hudson River right in our backyard.

Neighborhood businesses will provide refreshments and a chance to win great raffle prizes.
