Our article in the August issue reported on the loss of 15 supermarkets in the West Village over the last forty years or so. Here are a few more reported by our astute readers…
When I moved to the Village in 1992, there was a supermarket on the north side of 14th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues, on the western end of the block. It changed names a few times but I remember that it was a Strawberry Fields at one point. So I Googled it and found a post from 2002, which mentions it being just east of 9th Avenue on 14th Street.
