West Village Restaurants to Recommend

administration 04/01/2013     Featured

I have compiled the start of a list of places which is below, alongside photographs of local restaurants. This is not an easy thing to do based on all the great places to eat in our neighborhood. I included restaurants I have reviewed and was happy to receive several responses from our readership with recommendations which include:

  • Effie Miller suggests Mary’s Fish Camp, Pastis and lunch in particular at Perry Street. I am happy to report that Perry Street reopened recently after Sandy damage and resumed lunch in mid-March.
  • David Lapham suggests Malatesta Trattoria which I have not tried and is slightly hidden behind scaffolding which is somewhat of trend in West Village restaurants. He also asks about the Lobster Place in Chelsea Market which is due to reopen in an expanded format around April 1. It will include a 49-seat restaurant to open later and a sit-down sushi bar; many people cannot wait!
  • Sloane Shelton suggests Isodi on Christopher Street, which I did get a reservation in recently and it is a treat; small and curiously located on Christopher Street. Also suggested is DOMA on Seventh Avenue South.
  • Barbara Chacour suggests Frankie 570 and Snack Taverna. I think they are both great; I did review Frankie’s relatively recently.

I did notice in my walking around that the Slice The Perfect Food has turned into Wild, same ownership but now a local vegetarian-ish, gluten free restaurant that look very inviting with friendly prices. 535 Hudson St (between Charles and Perry Streets) 212 929 2920

Please continue to write me at David@CMBFFM.com with more suggestions.
