Caruso’s Quips

Web admin February 2, 2017     Monthly Columns, Opinion

By Charles Caruso

  • It’s easy when you have no choice.
  • Blue is said to be everyone’s favorite color, but who would want blue trees?
  • Our parents are gone, but why do they wander so casually through our dreams?
  • Wine the divine.
  • Poetry is splendid, but pottery is more useful.
  • Sorrow never dies. It sleeps, and sleeps lightly, awakened easily by a song, a face, a flower’s scent.
  • Politics is solely about money—who has it, who wants it, who gets it.
  • Beauty is only skin-deep, but good-looking intestines would be ridiculous.
  • Sad street scene: Christmas trees thrown in the gutter. So ungrateful after all the joy they gave.
  • A light bulb blowing out is traumatic, a reminder of all the dark out there.
  • Of course. Tom Brady is Jack Kennedy—handsome, rich, Irish, New Englander.  Why did it take so long to realize that?
  • Warm is better than cold. Warm is the temperature of life. Cold is the other.
