From its origins in a gym in 2003, the annual Taste of Greenwich House—to be held this year on March 13th—has developed into a showcase of the Village’s best restaurants and a “must-attend” for everyone following the Greenwich Village food scene. With more than 30 restaurants, eateries including Market Table and Café Clover present the best of their menus for the upcoming season alongside classics from New York institutions, like Knickerbocker’s famous caviar pie.

After 14 years, Taste has developed a reputation as the place for local chefs to debut new dishes and make big news. Past Taste benefits have featured notable culinary events ranging from Chef Harold Moore previewing his now opened Harold’s Meat + Three, to Annisa’s Chef Anita Lo presenting her book, Cooking Without Borders.

This year, on its 15th anniversary, Taste is branching out—or should we say vining out?—with the addition of an exclusive wine tasting from Lieb Cellars Winery to complement the evening’s selection of dishes.

Lieb Cellars is an 85-acre sustainably farmed vineyard located on the North Fork of Long Island. Under the direction of Australian-born winemaker Russell Hearn, Lieb’s Pinot Blanc and Blanc de Blancs sparkling wines have gained national recognition. The winery is also known for having produced two private labels for Celebrity Chef Tom Colicchio’s former restaurants Craft and the Topping Rose House.

“This new wine tasting is the perfect complement to the amazing food we are treated to each year at Taste. After every Taste, people tell me how they always learn a little something new about food from talking to each chef,” said Diane Perrin, the Special Events Manager for Greenwich House, the organizer of Taste. “I hope this year people are able to add a little wine knowledge to their repertoire as well.”

Taste is the marquee fundraiser for Greenwich House—the esteemed West Village institution whose programs help those New Yorkers in need to lead more fulfilling lives. Greenwich House programs provide services that include the treatment of victims of child abuse, medical care for home-bound seniors, after-school arts programs for urban youth, senior wellness classes, and counseling for adults struggling to overcome drug and alcohol addiction.

The 15th Annual Taste of Greenwich House takes place on Monday, March 13, 2017 at the Metropolitan Pavilion located at 125 West 18th Street (between 6th and 7th Avenues).
