Neva has been dancing professionally since the age of 14. This West Village teenager recently performed an hour of dynamic belly dance at Casa La Femme on Charles and Washington Streets, amazing her audience as she spun around the dining room. Last September, Neva was named the Best Emerging Dancer at the Raqs Without Borders Festival (‘Raqs’ stands for the classical style of Egyptian belly dance, Raqs Sharqi). She routinely dances at Turkish, Middle Eastern, and North African restaurants in New York. Neva’s dance talents go beyond belly dancing; she’s a member of the NYC Bhangra Dance Company and a former member of Piel Canela’s Youth Performance Salsa Team. This amazing young woman understands, speaks, and reads many languages including: Hindi, Dutch, Italian, Arabic, Russian, Turkish, French, Mandarin, and Korean. She sings perfectly in all of these languages and plays congas and darbuka (Latin and Middle Eastern drums).
All this, and she’s just getting started!
