On Sunday, November 20th, following a call from City Council Member Corey Johnson, over 500 Village and Chelsea residents descended on The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center (The Center) on West 13th Street to express their concerns about the impending Donald Trump Presidency and to set out actions that people can take to move forward.

The crowd was addressed by Mayor Bill de Blasio, who pledged that New York would remain a haven for immigrants and would continue to emphasize tolerance. The loudest cheer of the night came when someone said, “We need Bernie Sanders!”

Two key concrete actions were proposed: (1) Attend the Statewide Meeting of the NY Progressive Action Network (NYPAN) on December 4th at the Lithographers Union (113 University Place) from 10am to 4pm; and (2) Join the “Million Women’s March” on January 21, 2017, in Washington, D.C.
