Kohn Pedersen Fox is designing one of the tallest buildings in New York City for SL Green developers. The building’s roof will reach 1,301 feet into the air, and a spire will extend to 1,401 feet. The ground floor and cellar levels will have $220 million worth of transportation improvements, such as a 4,000-square-foot transit hall that will be an extension of Grand Central’s waiting area. The lowest level will link to “East Side Access”, the MTA’s multi-billion-dollar effort to bring Long Island Railroad trains from Sunnyside Yards to Grand Central. SL Green’s transit funding is secured in exchange for a notable upzoning, which allows for a larger building. Image courtesy of SL Green.
