St. Luke’s Expansion: The expansion of St. Luke’s School is progressing at 657 Greenwich Street. This 19th-century structure will gain nine new classrooms with 100 seats, as well as a 4,000-square-foot gym. The $25 million renovation project will expand the school by 50 percent, and the building will grow to 60,000 square feet. The condos, within the tower at 100 Barrow Street, are supposed to fund the expansion of St. Luke’s School. Barry Rice Architects are responsible for the design, and construction is expected to wrap next year.
e Park to Get Night Closures: The Community Board (CB2) recently voted to reject gates as a means to close the park at midnight. Instead, a design consisting of chains identical to the ones used throughout the park, with the chains fastened to the fence pylons, and a “Park Closed” sign hanging at the center of each chain, was requested of the Parks Department.
75 Morton to Get Green Roof: The CB2 unanimously voted to express appreciation for the allocation of green roof space as part of the 75 Morton gut renovation for a state-of-the-art middle and District 75 school, and requests financial support from our elected officials.
