TO ENGAGE THE WORLD

admin July 6, 2016     Arts and Culture, Photos

TO ENGAGE THE WORLD—was how the five artists described what they were attempting to do in their June show at the Westbeth Gallery. Its title was “Unpacking the 21st Century” and on Saturday, the 18th, each of the five women gave visitors a guided tour of their own work, which addressed the current day problems that concerned them—marriage equality, the refugee crisis, undocumented workers, income inequality, and the experience of children of holocaust survivors. Ending the afternoon with a group Q & A session were, left to right, artists Patricia Cazoria, Nancy Saleme, Patricia Dahlman, Aileen Bassis and Aliza Augustine. Though this show closed on June 25th, one would hope the artists would have a chance to exhibit their very timely work again. Text and photo by Maggie Berkvist.
