Each month, we observe a high turnover of businesses in our neighborhood. Often, closures are due to rising rents when leases expire. This month, we have noted 10 openings, 10 closures, and 6 businesses coming to the neighborhood in the near (we hope) future.

Recently Opened

Auntie Guan’s Kitchen 108 (108 West 14th Street): The second branch of this popular Kips Bay authentic Northern Chinese restaurant recently opened in the space that used to house a small Chinese food court.

The Doughnut Project (10 Morton Street): Serving doughnuts with flavors like Pineapple-Habanero, Olive Oil-Black Pepper, and the Maple Bacon Bar, which includes a slice of bacon on top.

The Lively (26 9th Avenue): A nightclub and ’70s-inspired live music venue from the Dos Caminos/Bill’s Bar & Burger folks. Offering bar food such as “Hottie Pockets” as well as “Boozy Snow Cones.”

Very Fresh Noodles (75 9th Avenue, Chelsea Market):
A new hand-pulled noodle stand. Go early, as they tend to sell out during the lunch rush.

Suprema Provisions (305 Bleecker Street): Gourmetmarket offering cured meats and cheeses, spices, imported specialty foods as well as kitchen and home goods. There is a restaurant with an entrance on 7th Avenue South.

Ramen by MEW (7 Cornelia Street): Finally, fantastic ramen in the West Village. Pork or chicken broth available along with interesting flavors like Yuzu and Midori Fire. Great appetizers too, all served in a radio studio-themed space.

Christofle (396 Bleecker Street): This French luxury brand has opened its second NYC store, selling jewelry, gifts, tableware/silverware, and decorative objects.
