Tucked away on Sullivan Street, this cozy Greenwich Village newcomer is an upbeat homage to traditional French cuisine. With MIMI, young owners Louis Levy, Evan and Daniel Bennett, and designer Camilla Deterre have meticulously crafted their vision of a convivial place that they and the neighborhood would love.

The décor is sleek and elegant, yet totally unpretentious and actually quite homey. Marble walls and round metal chandeliers evoke a retro-mod vibe, while a spacious velvet window seat welcomes spillover from the bar stools. Dim lighting and a lively playlist give the space an alluring air of timelessness.

Heading the kitchen is Elizabeth Johnson, former Sous Chef at Empellón Cocina, whose seasonal dishes showcase a wealth of experience and utmost attention to detail. On the menu you’ll find simple, refined French classics like endive gratin and veal tartare, complemented by a well-curated list of exclusively French wines. The large, inviting bar touts a fine array of spirits and a charming selection of well-balanced signature cocktails, like the namesake MIMI and crowd-pleasing Penicillin.

The folks at MIMI have created an environment that is casual and friendly without compromising the quality of food and service that is expected of upscale hospitality. Whether it’s for a date or a gathering of friends, MIMI’s intimate environment makes you feel right at home. No frills, no fuss—just nice people, delicious food, and a warm atmosphere.

MIMI is located at 185 Sullivan Street, corner of Bleecker Street.
