By Roberto Novo

Little by little, the West Village is losing its soul but thanks to Roberto Novo, owner of Roberto Novo Salon, and his mascots, Machito and Matilda, the West Village is still holding onto a bit of its life and charm.

Part of the magic is seeing Roberto pulling his wagon with his adorable two French Bulldogs through the streets of the West Village. People are constantly stopping to not only play with his two canine children, but also to snap a photo. Before you know it, Roberto is engaged in a conversation with them and these once strangers soon become not only his clients but also friends and fans of Machito Novo—liking him on his Facebook page.

Roberto shares his southern hospitality with everyone he meets, and by southern he means South American—coming from the heart of Argentina, Buenos Aires. He is a charismatic, caring person just like his former neighbor in Argentina, the current Pope, Pope Francis.

If you are looking for the best haircut in town, come over and let this big hearted Argentinian, Roberto work his magic on your hair and you will leave feeling and looking like a movie star. He has been for years the hairdresser to many stars, such as Calvin Klein, Grace Jones and Christine W.

Have a personal vibrant salon experience while hanging with the Mayor of Christopher Street, Machito Novo. And check out Machito’s graphic novel while you are there. Stop by to have a picture with this celebrity dog just like Alec Baldwin, Snoopdog, and Martha Stewart did.
