On Thursday April 10, the Village Independent Democrats (VID) held their monthly meeting at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 83 Christopher Street. The meeting started with a report by district leader Keen Berger on local political initiatives along with various committee updates. This was followed by a forum on “The Power to Change: Clean Energy and the Future of New York City” which involved several speakers discussing various legislative and private initiatives around energy use. The club then unanimously passed a non-binding resolution requesting that NYC government pension funds divest investments from fossil fuel companies when fiscally possible.

The next meeting of the club will be at the same location on Thursday May 8.

Alec Pruchnicki is a member of the executive committee of VID.
