On Friday morning, September 14, 2012 The Tiles for America Memorial was removed from Mulry Square by members of the Tiles for America Preservation Project, local residents and other concerned individuals in accordance with the deadline set by the MTA. Under the direction of Columbia University’s Ceramics department faculty, the tile collection will be stabilized, cataloged, photographed and stored in a secure climate-controlled facility with plans to exhibit them steps from the original memorial site.
